Is RLE Right for Me? An Honest Candidacy Guide for Atlanta Patients

Strong candidates

Who should NOT have RLE
Good surgeons decline these cases, and you want a surgeon who declines cases. RLE is usually the wrong choice if you have uncontrolled eye disease (advanced glaucoma, significant macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy), certain corneal conditions, or an unstable prescription. Very nearsighted eyes carry a higher retinal-detachment risk and need a careful retinal evaluation first — sometimes the answer is ICL or waiting. Perfectionists with a low tolerance for any night-vision quirks need an unusually careful lens conversation. And anyone expecting guaranteed perfect vision should hear it plainly: outcomes are excellent for well-selected patients, but no ethical surgeon guarantees a result.
